Virginia 2013 Champions! National Ocean Science Bowl Finals in Milwuakee, WI April 18 - 21 The Blue Crab Bowl Team will represent Virginia at the National Ocean Science Bowl finals in Milwaukee, April 18 - 21, 2013. Our team finished first in the state in 2013 at the annual Blue Crab Bowl held at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science and jointly sponsored by the Old Dominion University and Virginia Sea Grant. With the winning streak now at six, the team won in 2012 and in 2011 the team also won the Blue Crab Bowl and competed at nationals in Galveston, TX. The Bishop Sullivan Science Team has won the state title for six years running. The 2008 team won the Virginia Regional National Ocean Science Bowl and received an all expense paid trip to Seward Alaska to compete in the National Ocean Science Bowl, finishing 18th in the nation. The 2009 team won the Virginia Regional National Ocean Science Bowl and received an all expense paid trip to Washington, DC to compete in the National Ocean Science Bowl, finishing 9th in the nation. Our team also competed in the National Science Bowl, Virginia regionals. Our team finished third in the state at the Virginia regional competition held at Jefferson Lab on February 5, 2011 repeating third place finishes from 2010 and 2009 and fourth in 2013. The Bishop Sullivan Team has participated in the Blue Crab Bowl every year since 1999 and has amassed an impressive record in this prestigous Virginia regional science competition. The team has competed in the National Science Bowl since 2007 and although the team is and has clearly focused on the ocean sciences, it has brought home a trophy three times. Finished tied for 18th in the nation) 2009: Virginia Champions (attended NOSB nationals in Washington DC. Finished tied for 9th in the nation) 2010: Virginia Champions (attended NOSB nationals in St. Petersburg Florida. Finished tied for 12th in the nation) 2011: Virginia Champions (attended NOSB natioinals in Galveston, Texas.
